New DIBAL Product: Retail Scales with 3-inch Ticket Printers

At DIBAL, we have been manufacturing retail scales and other weighing and labelling solutions since 1985. These 35 years have always been marked by the same spirit: using our five senses to detect new uses and client needs, anticipating them, and adapting our equipment to these demands. This is the origin of many of our developments, including one of the latest as well: our retail scales with 3-inch (") ticket printers, about 75 millimetres approximately.

This new DIBAL solution arises, above all, from the need for businesses to enter more and more information on purchase tickets: date and time, price, weight, product description, product origin, etc. Besides, there are other types of information that are not mandatory but are demanded by end consumers, such as BIDI or QR codes, which make it easier to access complementary and interesting information on products, suppliers and promotions, among others.

Three-inch tickets are an alternative to two-inch tickets when there is too much information to be included. This way, the ticket´s final size is balanced. If a two-inch ticket is used when there is a lot of information to print, the resulting ´Sheet´ would be unattractive and difficult to handle.

At DIBAL, we have always striven to offer our clients retail scales that provide optimum performance in all weighing phases, including the final print. For the time being, our 3" ticket printer has been developed for our premium range, dual body format PC scale. It uses continuous feed rolls, and their length is adjusted when the amount of information to be printed is issued.

In order to print a ticket on a DIBAL retail scale, first the user will have had to:

  1. Register a ticket format on the scale and then define which fields -information specific to an operation- will appear on it: date and time, PLU (acronym for Price-Look-Up-Code, as each reference is known in retailing), article description, weight, price, discount, etc. Information that is shared by all the products being sold can also be added: name, address and contact details of the store, logo, loyalty points, EAN codes, QR codes, etc. This is a one-time action, and once the regular ticket format is defined, changes are not frequent.
  2. Register products (PLUs) on the scale, and include at the time of registration the product´s specific information (nutritional values, allergens, weight, price, dates, traceability, etc.), which will later be used by the scale when printing the ticket.

These steps are simple, however, anyone concerned that they may not understand how to operate the scale should be aware that DIBAL offers training, help and support to distributors and users.

At DIBAL we want our users to get the most out of their scales, and that´s why:

  • We have a professional team dedicated to training distributors, who are also prepared to solve any doubt they may have on a daily basis.
  • We have a YouTube channel in which we regularly post video tutorials that help to solve the most frequent issues users face.
  • In 2019, we launched ´DIBAL´s online academy´ to share videos and tutorials with our distributors and their commercial networks to solve technical and other kind of doubts. It quickly became a very interesting and successful training and communication tool which enables us to reach a specific audience in an efficient and comfortable way.
